In our rooms, we try to organize annual exhibitions.
Summer 2015: „150 years of the first ascent of the Lauterbrunnen Breithorn“
The first ascent of the Breithorn for the 150 time marks the summer 2015. On this occasion, we will organize an exhibition with old and new photos of the mountain. Our Breithorn is one of 58 peaks in the Alpine area, which have been entered in the summer of 1865, for the first time by people. But the conquest of the Breithorn was very special. On the same day, two mountaineering groups attempted to reach the summit via the west ridge. In the valley museum Lauterbrunnen we are proud to have the small pocket telescope of Edmund von Fellenberg. He was the first man on that top, less than 10 minutes before the second groupe. We will show you that telescope in our room "Mountaineering and tourism" on the upper floor of our house.
